HOW MUCH OF AN EDGE WILL SUPPLEMENTS GIVE YOU?

A lot of people have asked me about the benefits or otherwise of taking supplements. As a general rule, I do not push supplements as they can be easily abused, with dire consequence.

Supplements are becoming extremely popular in the fitness industry and much of the public are being misled by what certain supplements can do. Nutrition will always come first and give far greater results than any array of supplements ever could. Supplements are given their name because they do just that: supplement an already well put together nutrition plan.

However, it is not always possible to get all the nutrients you require only by eating and if you're the busy kind, you  may find it difficult to eat a meal every few hours. In such a situation, smartly selected supplements may be beneficial to keep your metabolism going, it'll help you build muscle, and help you fight fat. Supplements are also beneficial to  people who find it hard to build muscle; for such people, supplements can provide a source of valuable protein

So my advice is to look honestly at your goals and ask yourself whether you need to supplement your diet. If you believe you need a supplement, look for one that closely matches your fitness goals. But be careful not to take too much within a day, as the long term abuse of supplements may cause damage to your kidneys. Remember that supplements are just that, they are meant to supplement your diet and should not act as substitutes for a good diet.

DEADLIFT YOUR WAY TO A FIT BODY!!!

It has been a long time since I last posted on LegallyMuscled. I hope you are getting closer to you goal of maintaining a fit mind and a strong body - a body that is living and pulsating with the vigorous energy of aliveness through lifting weights.

Many people have a love-hate relationship with the deadlift. I rather dread the deadlift myself because of the soreness I normally feel when I use them in my training.

Deadlifts is one of the few exercises that truly stimulate both the lower and upper body. The same cannot be said of squats, which focus mainly on the lower body. Deadlifts work your backside, giving it a firm and rounded look.  upper thighs, hamstrings, lower back, upper middle back, traps, and gives a kind of "fullness" in the chest (take note guys).

Do not round or flatten your back at any time! This is very important. If you round or flatten your back on the initial pull or to get that last rep you're risking a serious injury that might set you back months or totally end your weightlifting career. If you cannot do deadlifts with good form then do not do them, period.

Do not deadlift when you have a pinch in the lower back, it may be a warning sign of injury.

Oops, you forgot your mojo? Deadlift.

WHO CAN YOU BECOME IN 12 WEEKS??

A 12 week transformation ( Yes, Its the same guy)

These are the experiences of people who took charge and decided to change their body to fit their desires.
After transforming my body through 12 weeks of show prep, the physical and mental results were something I knew I didn't want to live without ever again. Living fit allows me to set goals, both big and small. Working toward goals every day fuels my passion......

Living fit drives and keeps me convinced that this is the right way to live because of the balance and structure it provides. Working out and eating clean energizes me, keeps my mind clear, and allows me to stay focused in all aspects of my life. Of course, I have days where this isn't the case, but overall, fitness has greatly improved my quality of life. It has made me a better mother, wife, friend, and person. We're all busy people with obligations and responsibilities outside of the gym. Finding balance is important; with all that goes on in my life with kids, training, college classes, etc., having balance allows me to enjoy the journey. It is truly rewarding.

My view of myself definitely changed. I realized I have an incredible amount of determination and drive inside of me. I never knew it existed. I figure, I'm just a regular dude, so if it it's inside of me, then it's inside of everyone.

..So whats your excuse

GET THE HOT BODY YOU WANT IN 2013

2012 made it 10 years since I started lifting weights ( I started lifting weights before I started bodybuilding).

Looking back, I'm happy I started this journey, as it has revealed abilities I never knew existed and opened doors for me which may have otherwise stayed closed

But this happened because I genuinely desired to change how I looked; I was angry, sick and tired of every bully trying to pick on me and I took the decision to DO WHATEVER IT TOOK to get stronger. This desire helped me bear the pain of each workout, and push myself harder towards getting the Ideal body.
The Ideal Body?

What about you? What do you see when you look in the mirror? How badly do you personally want to change the way you look? Are you someone who has been "satisfied" with how you look but could make "improvements"? If so, is working out even necessary for you?

When I started lifting weights, I didn't understand the depth of what I was doing; I merely lifted weights because an uncle told me that was the way to get free from bullies. But as I developed in body, and nourished my mind with private study, I discovered that the pursuit of mere muscle growth was very shallow. True bodybuilding is about creating a healthy mind within a healthy body. It is about continually growing both physically and intellectually.

Do you, personally, really need to bodybuild? Perhaps you have already given bodybuilding or exercise a shot. Maybe it didn't work for you. Was what you did really effective?

This is an important question because your physical health depends upon the answer!!!! Count the cost and ask yourself the following questions:

  • Will I make the time to workout consistently?
  • Will I cook all of my own food that I require?
  • Will I manage my time so as to allow for my workouts?
  • Will I be able to afford to be a bodybuilder?
  • Is this something that is a fad, or will I live it?
Bodybuilding is a way of life based on excellence, and will assist you in developing character traits that will be with you throughout your life. The personal riches that a bodybuilding way of life can offer you are endless. But to maximise your potential, you must be honest with yourself and understand what you are getting yourself into, because its not something your pick up and drop, it's a lifelong religion.

5 Hard truths about fitness

The aim of most fitness trainers and other fitness professionals is to help their clients and other people they come across to reach the highest level of fitness achievable. The feeling you get when a person you have trained reaches or exceeds their fitness goals is indescribable!!!No amount of money can replicate that feeling.
On the other hand, I feel really bad when I see someone who simply refuses to put in the little extra effort and discipline required to achieve their fitness goals (and believe me, a large number of people fall within this category). I have met many people who start out the journey, but within 2-5 workouts they slide and make excuses to justify their failure.

I have therefore decided to deliver some hard truths on the fitness; things I have observed from my 10 years of experience in bodybuilding and fitness competition.

1. If you want to do anything worthwhile in life, you have got to be Hungry for it!!!! Nobody has ever become a champion by half hearted effort. You simply cannot finish the fitness race if you don't see yourself being who you want to be, meditate upon it, obsess about it until it is impressed upon our subconscious. Once you give up on what you want, what you don't want will come in and break you.

2.  The fitness race is run by you for YOU!!! too many people (especially women) go to the gym or take up diets to satisfy their husbands, friends, family etc. When you are motivated from within, no kind of adversity, injury, or challenge will stop you from achieving your goals.

3. Giving 100 percent and finishing what you started requires irreplaceable confidence in yourself. Physical fitness starts from mental fitness; you have to work on your mind each and every day. One lesson I have learnt from fitness is that weights are not lifted by your muscles, they are lifted by your mind.

4. Fitness is a habit

5. There are no shortcuts to fitness!!!!! The race is a marathon, not a sprint. Any one who tells you there is an easy way to lose weight and gain fitness is selling you some useless snake oil. The only route to fitness is HARD WORK, CLEAN NUTRITION and DISCIPLINE!!!

LEARN HOW TO STRETCH CORRECTLY FROM BILL "SUPERFOOT" WALLACE

Superfoot, a 5-foot, 10 1/2 inch native of Portland, Ind., began studying karate in February 1967 after suffering a right leg injury in a judo accident. The injury left him without the use of the leg in karate competition. Some observers said Superfoot was committing martial arts suicide. He, however, had other ideas. In the next seven years, Superfoot dominated the point-tournament circuit leaving a string of battered and bruised bodies along the martial arts fighting trail.Bill “Superfoot”  Wallace retired as the undefeated Professional Karate Association (PKA) Middleweight Champion after an illustrious 15-year career in tournament and full contact fighting.

Superfoot, whose education includes a bachelor’s degree (1971) in physical education from Ball State University and a master’s degree (1976) in kinesiology (the study of human movement) from Memphis State University,  continues to be one of the martial arts most popular figures. He is the author of three books: Karate: Basic Concepts & Skills, Dynamic Kicking & Stretching, and The Ultimate Kick.
